It helps enormously to include a diagnostics report: open Diagnostics from any screen in the app, tap Copy, and paste it into your email.

How it works

One phone is the host: it holds the music and controls playback. Every other phone joins as a client, receives the songs it does not already have, and follows the host's playhead in real time. Press play once and the whole room hears it together.

Phones find each other over Bluetooth, so no shared Wi-Fi and no internet connection is needed. On a network you trust, switch to Wi-Fi for much faster song transfers.

Common questions

The other phone cannot find my host.
Make sure both phones picked the same transport on the home screen. On Wi-Fi they must be on the same network, and some networks block the discovery broadcast — in that case tap the pencil icon on the client and type the host's address, which the host shows in its green banner.
Playback is slightly out of step on one phone.
Bluetooth headphones and different speakers add their own delay. On the host, use the Client offset slider to nudge the timing until it lines up.
The first play of a song takes a while over Bluetooth.
Bluetooth transfers are much slower than Wi-Fi. That is the trade for needing no network at all; once a song has transferred, it is not sent again.
Songs from my streaming subscription do not appear.
SyncSong plays audio files you already have. Tracks that are DRM-protected or not downloaded cannot be exported by the system, so they never show up. Use the Files source for audio stored on the device.
How many phones can join?
Up to four at a time can follow one host.

Privacy

Your music never leaves the phones taking part. The only data that leaves your device is crash diagnostics, and you can switch that off in the app. Read the full privacy policy.
